History
Kiev based on river Dnipro more than 1500 years ago outlived many wars, devastations and robberies, but until now remains one of central objects in history of Russia, Baltic, Europe and Asia.
Being the capital of Kiev Rus, under the protection of knyaz, Kiev formed and created the Old Russian culture. In the 13th century a city was attacked by mongolo-tatarians, because of what was devastated and ransacked. From a 16th century Kiev was in composition of Poland and Lithuania and after the release from the Polish gentry, Ukraine proclaimed itself as the state and began to team up with Russia, where Kiev became the center of the Kiev province.
After revolution of 1917 year and disintegration of the Russian empire, Kiev during a few years was the capital of Ukrainian Folk Republic. And after completion of civil war and formation of USSR Kiev became the capital of Ukrainian SSR.
During the second world war a city was almost fully blasted because of a long siege in 1941. For heroism of habitants, got proof resistance and economic contribution to the war Kiev was honoured rank the «city the hero». Now Kiev is the capital of the independent state - Ukraine.
Contemporaneity
Modern Kiev is the economic, cultural, spiritual and social center of Ukraine. It is a capital, with all its charms, areas of rest, museums, sights and culture. After a reconstruction the capital combines all lines of history: past, present and future. There are old churches, famous houses called «stalinki», epoches of USSR and new tendencies of modern world. And brightens up all this cultural riches of Kiev trees, parki, gardens – Kiev it is the most green capital of world!

Capital of Ukraine has a lot of different places for rest, both for children, and for adults, for young people, so for old men. Restaurants, clubs, casinos, fitnes centers, billiards and bowling, theaters, cinemas and other entertaining establishments – this is only small part from those places, where it is possible have a fine time. But the more of impressions will bring you rest on open air, walks on Dnepr, or water entertainments in famous hydroparke. For the amateurs of romanticism we will not forget about parks and avenues. City is located in the center of East Europe, on shore of Dnepr, and has good geographical position for all types of transport. The capital of Ukraine is the tool of connection and association of habitants of Kiev settlements, of Ukraine and important international communications.
